How We Got Started

Global Alpha Training Initiative – Regina
GAT (Global Alpha Training) is a new Alpha initiative designed to release Alpha expertise within existing churches and courses, to meet international/global training needs, to run an Alpha Course in other countries.

How We Got Started:

Last spring (09), at the Regina Alpha Conference, Shaila Visser from Alpha Canada, (Director of GAT– North America, and Alpha Canada National Director) presented a new international training opportunity. Some of those who attended her information session on GAT got quite excited and expressed an interest in pursuing the possibility of becoming involved in this new endeavor. So about a dozen people from 3 or 4 churches have been meeting and planning over the past year. Our goal is to pull a team of 5-6 people together and send them out to another country, to train up church leaders and elders there, and encourage them to establish their own Alpha courses. It’s like offering a 2 day “training conference in a suitcase”!

Briefly, the mission for the GAT initiative is to send experienced local Alpha Teams to train and equip leaders in nations around the world, to effectively run The Alpha Course.

We are in the process of planning and raising funds for the first Alpha Regina GAT trip. We are sending a team to lead 2 GAT events in Chile this July. Every GAT team is responsible to fundraise all required expenses for the international training. Alpha Canada supports the team by training them for the trip, and placing the team in a country/location that has requested a Global Alpha Training team to come.

We’d like to invite you, your church, your friends and family to support this initiative with your presence at events, your prayers, and if possible, with your financial support. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be involved in a new international outreach.

Please, prayerfully consider joining us in sharing the Goods News globally, Alpha-style!

Thank you!
